Doing something different, something new Doing Something Different, Something New The sohpomore students of a high school observed the huge numbers of used plastic cups being thrown by those having snacks in the school canteen. They then thought of collecting them and other scrap items available in the school premises. Encouraged by one of their teachers and with an initial capital of 1,000 pesos, they decided to engage in the scrap buy-and-sell trade . When they first started collecting scrap materials which they sold to a junk shop, they became the butt of jokes at their school. But they just ignored them and later on they were able to put up their own junk shop. They have become self-supporting students and they were able to prove that with self-confidence and determination to succeed, they can do it.
